Mentoring Return to Top

The Parents, instructional staff and students will view the the R.A.R.E Foundations “Everyday Heroes” video. Question and answer sessions will follow. Participants will receive hand outs which accompany the documentary and will then identify potential resources in their community to create a network that can serve as mentors. Parents will then view power point presentations which tell stories of success.

At Risk: Stories of Hope will maintain a blog as well as a weekend podcast from Kauai.

Teacher consultation Return to Top

At Risk: Stories of Hope will maintain a members only forum where specific educational strategies and approaches for the creative mind will be shared. Each community is different so your program will be tailored to your community’s specific needs. At Risk: Stories of Hope will podcast from Kauai in the future. To check out my “Talk Story” podcast please click HERE.

Members will be able to view and discuss content of films (available on the web site) which illustrate Hector Perez’s unique ability to inspire students and create mentors. Your community’s concerns will be addressed on this site.

At Risk: Stories of Hope will share resources so that the graduation rate is increased across our nation. Your community might be a national model in the making. It will serve as a place to critically review programs that have shown positive impact.

Screen printing Return to Top

At Risk: Stories of Hope will install a professional T Shirt screen printing shop which will be used to widen the scope of technology in your school curriculum. Your teachers, parents, and students will learn how to produce high end T Shirts to excite and inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs.

This workshop will utilize computers loaded with graphics software (at real world industry standards) like Photoshop, Illustrator and Typestyler.

Digital cameras are necessary for printing and producing high quality photography on T shirts. Your new digital cameras are compatible with the computers being donated from At Risk: Stories of Hope and produce high quality images. Your school will also receive a wide format photo printer to produce large format photography.

Robert Raushenberg, one of America’s most successful artists, produced his artwork using screenprinting and photography. So did Andy Warhol!

Students will learn about the market potential of designer print wear.  This approach inspires students to want to learn more about the million dollar screenprinting industry.

Mural Workshop Return to Top

Murals will be introduced to teach, commemorate and honor community members as well as timeless themes such as the encouragement of education in order to effect change both at a personal and social level.

Mr. Perez appears in a fresco video available from Sinopia Pigments in California. It is in this workshop conducted by Diego Rivera’s assistants from the Detroit Industry Mural, Stephen Dimitroff and Luciene Bloch where Mr. Perez learned his fresco and scaling techniques.

Your participants will be the third degree of separation from Rivera himself.

At Risk: Stories of Hope attempts to give at risk students the opportunity to cross over into the realm of success. Therefore the exchange of ideas and resources shared with At Risk: Stories of Hope will be shared with other communities for the greater good. We at At Risk: Stories of Hope welcome all productive creative thought.
